The Pulaski County Fire Commission was formed in 1981.  The Insurance Premium Tax that is collected in Pulaski County funds the Commission.  Pulaski County Fire Commission was set up to be the liaison between the Fiscal Court and the Fire Departments. The Pulaski County Fire Commission meets once a month on the third Monday night at 7:30pm at the Hal Rogers Fire Training Center.  Each department has a representative that has voting rights at these meetings. 
Pulaski County Fire Commission consists of 18 departments, 

  • 15 volunteer departments
  • 1 Special Response Team
  • 1 Pulaski County Rescue Squad
  • 1 Paid Fire Department

DEPARTMENT LIST

We offer fire protection,  all types of rescue including auto extrication, high angle (rope rescue), cave rescue, swift water rescue, confined spaces rescue, and we also have a hazmat team.

We offer a regional fire school every year in the spring. We also hold a recruit class for 150 hour and 400 hour certifications If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with Pulaski County you can contact us through the website, call the office (606-679-7075) or contact the department that’s in your district. One more option to volunteer is with the Pulaski Co. Rescue Squad or Somerset Pulaski Co. Special Response Team (Hazmat Team) and both of these are a county wide program
